Outbreak of corona virus causes Church in Ghana to call off World Youth Day celebrations



Following the confirmation of Ghana's first coronavirus cases, authorities of the church in Ghana have called off World Youth Day celebration which was to happen at the Archdiocesan level from  27th to 28th March 2020  levels until further notice.

communiqué from the outfit of  the Youth and Vocation Director, Rev Fr Osmund Kudoloh in consultation with Most Rev John Bonaventure Kwofie, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra says the outbreak confirmed in the country calls for precautionary measure,thus the decision to put the celebration on hold.

POSTPONEMENT OF ARCHDIOCESAN WORLD YOUTH DAY
Kindly receive warm greetings from the Youth and Vocations Office.
After consultation with Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, it has become prudent and necessary to postpone indefinitely the 2020 Archdiocesan
World Youth Day scheduled for 27-28 March, 2020 at the St. Andrew R/C Basic School Park, Kordiabe.
This decision is a precautionary measure in the face of the COVID 19 pandemic.
The Office wishes to encourage all youth and children to adhere to the following:
* Regular and thorough washing of hands with soap under running water and use of
alcohol-base hand sanitizer.
* Avoid shaking of hands
* Keep a distance of at least two meters from a person with fever, cough, sneezing and
difficulty in breathing.
* It is advisable to be physically active, drink plenty of water, eat healthy, avoid stress and
have enough sleep.
* Stay home if you feel unwell with symptoms of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing
