The meaning of the Ascension for Christians is derived from their belief in the glorification and exaltation of Jesus following his death and Resurrection, as well as from the theme of his return to God the Father. Thus, the Gospel According to John uses both the sayings of Jesus and his post-Resurrection appearances to indicate a new relationship between Jesus and his Father and between him and his followers, rather than a simple physical relocation from earth to heaven. Archbishop Polak calls on Vatican to root out perpetrators of child sexual abuse in the church

  Following the recent release of a piece which highlights abuse cover up by Priests  in Poland,  Archbishop Wojciech Polak , chief shepherd of the Gniezno Archdiocese  who also serves as the Delegate of Child Protection of Polish Bishops Conference has asked the Vatican to launch investigation into the happenings. The said piece sheds light on two brothers who seek to who journey on to square up to a Priest who is alleged to have abused them during their infancy stage. Archbishop Polak  calls on the Church authority to assign an investigator to the issue and root out all possible “answers”. Six Jesuit priests in one Philadelphia home succumb to COVID-19

The clergymen ranged in age from 77 to 93. Six Jesuit priests who lived in a retirement facility in Philadelphia died from COVID-19 in April. The deaths represented one-third of the population of Manresa Hall nursing center, which is adjacent to St. Joseph’s University. All of the priests died in local hospitals. The situation led to the closing April 17 of Manresa Hall after all the priests residing there tested positive for COVID-19. The residence reopened April 25, and Mike Gabriele, a spokesman for the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus, said the priests who have returned are in stable or good condition. The  attempted assassination of  Pope John Paul II took place on Wednesday, 13 May 1981, in St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City.  The Pope was shot and wounded by Mehmet Ali Agca while he was entering the square. The Pope was struck four times and suffered severe blood loss.  AÄŸca was apprehended immediately and later sentenced to life in prison by an Italian court. The Pope later forgave AÄŸca for the assassination attempt.  He was pardoned by Italian president Carlo Azeglio Ciampi at the Pope's request and was deported to Turkey in June 2000. COVID-19 will expose businessmen posing as pastors, Archbishop Kaigama

Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama, Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja has stated that the ongoing global crisis caused by the deadly coronavirus will reveal true clerics and individuals who set out to amass wealth for themselves under the guise of  “clerics”. The Prelate explained that, any cleric in the church whose paramount aim is to make money and not lead the flock to God amidst the pandemic is a businessman and not a true cleric. Archbishop Kaigama reiterated that “th is is the time to know who are true shepherds of the flock and those who are just engaged in work of religion in order to amass wealth for themselves or to acquire wealth and prosperity ”. “ But if you are a pastor or priest in order to acquire material wealth, in order to enjoy prosperity, then, I ’ m sorry, you ’ re not called by God. 6000 Parishes in US receive loans to support crippling businesses amid COVID-19 crisis

An estimated 6000 Parishes in the US have received loans from the state’s Paycheck Protection Program aimed at reviving crippling businesses amidst the COVID-19 struggles according to a CBS report. In consonance with COVID-19 stimulus efforts, the PPP was created to ease the burden on individuals with the majority of the Catholic Churches in the US between 12,000- 13,000 applying for the loan. A ccording to Pat Markey,  E xecutive director of the Diocesan Fiscal Management Conference , th e latter part of March saw  about 3,000 parishes  receiving the  funding through the fourth coronavirus relief bill that passed last month .
